- We are pleased and proud to announce that after months of work, we have been awarded Clubmark status by Sport England.
- Clubmark is Sport England’s standard for high quality community sports clubs. It requires that a club must follow best practice in all areas of its remit: The Clubmark accreditation is based around four areas, which must be supported by evidence in the Clubs application: quality of programmes and coaching; duty of care and safety; fairness and equity and connection to the local community; and efficient and well-structured management.
- We have been working with Sport England and Lancashire Sport Partnership in Blackburn with Darwen to achieve this accreditation and thanks go to Jill Ashcroft in Blackburn for all her help with the application. Thanks also to coaches and managers who helped with the endless forms and who have taken further training to improve the quality of our Club, including First Aid training. But the biggest thanks goes to Rebecca Outram who has worked tirelessly for us to achieve this award.
- Clubmark status gives Blackburn national recognition and has already helped us become better networked with local and national sports organisations who can help us develop, and it has helped us become better organized, more qualified and safer place. We hope that in the future it will also assist us in building local partnerships, enhance our profile with local media and government, increase membership and boost our chances of being awarded grants from funding bodies.
The team of inspectors from Sport England and Lancashire Sport Partnership visited the rink last month and were so impressed that they have recommended that our application be used as the new benchmark.
