Alan Amos, A Tribute To
Alan was a man known throughout the Hockey Community and will be missed by many from both in and outside the sport.
Alan was not only a driving force behind hockey development in Blackburn for many years but his tireless, unselfish efforts to ensure the best for all junior and senior players will be one help deep in our hearts forever.
He was honest, kind, genuine and was a pleasure to all who have been fortunate over the many years to have been his friend, colleague or acquaintance.
He was and will remain always “The Hockey Man” as a Club and Community to whom we owe so much to.
Alan Amos, always remembered, always missed, but never to be forgotten..
Lucas in Bike Ride Challenge For Mentor
Junior Hawk Lucas Vince completed a 36 mile bike ride from Oldham to Blackburn on Saturday, in memory of his hockey mentor Alan Amos.
The 10 year old set off from Roy Street, Royton, on Saturday morning for the three and a half hour, non stop ride.
Kind hearted Lucas has raised 490 pounds by asking people at the Ice Arena and his neighbours to sponsor him. Half the money will go towards both his teams, Blackburn Junior Hawks Under 12s and Under 14s.
The other half will go towards a memorial garden in Blackburn for Alan Amos, his former ice hockey coach, who died suddenly of cancer in January. Alan first inspired Lucas to start playing ice hockey three years ago.
Lucas rode alongside his father, David Vince, who coaches the under-12s team, grandfather Martin Vince, and Blackburn Eagles trio Steven Hetherington, Paul Burns and Andrew Duxbury.
